As many as 110 diverse events have been held on October 17-29 as part of Style.Uz Art Week 2011, Golden Guepard Tashkent International Cinema Forum, the 2nd International Theatre Festival “Theatre.Uz” and the 6th Tashkent International Biennale of Contemporary Art, a project quartet overseen by the Fund Forum and its partners. Over 60,000 people attended the events.
32 participant countries, over 500 international guests, around 250 media representatives, over 300 volunteers and translators, over 32,000 visitors to Style.Uz events, 15,000 to Theatre.Uz, 8,000 to the Golden Guepard Cinema Forum and around 5,000 to the Biennale.
32 events held as part of the 2nd International Theatre Festival “Theatre.UZ/2011”, bringing together over theater experts and actors;
24 events held as part of the Golden Guepard Tashkent International Cinema Forum, bringing together roughly 200 film industry professionals and film stars;
19 master classes led by film directors, stage directors, fashion experts and stylists, attended by around 3,000 young people;
16 artists and photo exhibition, including the projects of the 4th Tashkent International Biennale of Contemporary Art, showcasing works by over 250 artists, photographers and craftsmen;
12 fashion shows – 9 by international designers and fashion houses, Underground youth fashion show, the National Dress Festival and the General Défilé by House of Style. All told, 58 collections have been demonstrated;
7 conferences, forums and roundtables: International Women’s Business Forum “Development of Social Entrepreneurship: Experience and Strategies”, Blitz Briefing with film industry professionals, roundtable “Interaction of Fashion and Education”, press conference with Art Week organizers, guests and participants, roundtable “Crisis and Transformation of Multiculturalism: the Biennale Space”, International Forum “The Role and Place of Central Asian Theaters in the Global Theater Process: Results of Twenty Years’ Free Theater Development”, and a roundtable focusing on problems in contemporary cinema;
3 concerts: by music legend Ennio Morricone, by Italian pop star Eros Ramazzotti and by Russian opera star Dmitri Hvorostovsky and composer Igor Krutoy. Up to 80% of concert tickets were distributed among young talented people and professionals in Uzbekistan. The proceeds from Ramazzotti’s charity concert will go toward supporting women living with breast cancer under a program overseen by “In the Name of Life” National Breast Cancer Association;
2 charity auctions: a charity gala dinner organized by “In the Name of Life” National Breast Cancer Association and hosted by prominent Russian TV host Andrei Malakhov, and an auction by MEROS Association in conjunction with Christie’s (UK), the world’s largest auction house. The auction was led by British auctioneer Edward Rising. The proceeds from the auction will be channeled into research and archeological excavations overseen by MEROS Association. The research process involves leading archeologists, historians and scientists as well as history students at Uzbek universities;
2 competitions: International Hairstyling Competition with over 40 participants from Uzbekistan and jury members from Russia, Turkey, USA and Uzbekistan. International Contemporary Choreography and Sporting Dance Competition with 45 dance groups (716 people) from Uzbekistan, Russia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, and jury members from Canada, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
New technologies: the events were broadcast live on www.ftv.uz, www.style.uz, Forum TV as well as Uzbegim Taronasi, Zamin and Terra radio stations.
